▶ CHARACTER
NAME: Luchino DeRossi
CANON: Identity V
CANON POINT: After some time at the Manor
AGE: Late twenties
BACKGROUND:
Identity V is about a group of people, all invited to a strange manor that promises to grant them their wishes. People who come to the manor are made to play a "game", where one hunter hunts down four survivors, who try to escape before they are killed (in game and in the stage play, they're strapped to a rocket chair, but it's also suggested that it's a euphemism so it's kind of left up to interpretation; people also come back even if they die in the manor, and many of the hunters are dead or spirits/elder gods, so there's definitely some magic shenanigans going on). Luchino is one of these hunters.
Professor Luchino was a researcher of venomous and poisonous reptiles and amphibians, while working alongside a Dr. Duquein Thompson. Luchino would experiment with the venom of the creatures he studied by first having the venom/poison affect a rat, and then test it on a human, perhaps even himself - albeit with treatment methods nearby. When Dr. Thompson received an extraordinary reptile that began as a snake and then grow four limbs like a lizard, he invited Luchino to assist him in his studies. As Luchino had caused the failure of one of Dr. Thomson's businesses, Luchino suspected a hidden agenda, but accepted the offer. Although the new reptile's venom did not affect a rat, when Luchino was bitten he bagan to mutate. Although originally seeing this as a breakthrough in his research, Luchino mutated into a lizard hybrid.

PERSONALITY:
Luchino is a man driven by his ambition and thirst for knowledge, but who is also somewhat mourning the loss of the man he once was. Most of his journal entries suggest that he was primarily focused inwardly on his own work, aware of the politics around the research facility but having no desire to participate. He seemed to get along well with both scientific staff and the laborers in the facility, and has shown himself to be shrewd.
He's very even-headed, slow to anger and with a tendency to take things in stride. He gets along with people easily enough, though he's not exactly social; he'll engage, but he won't always seek out companionship (he will absolutely go off when it comes to his areas of expertise, though.) Luchino's sense of humor is sharp, tending toward deadpan, and he can enjoy teasing when he feels comfortable around someone. However, he pays attention to how others are feeling and does not go out of his way to hurt feelings. He's surprisingly good around children, finding their honest curiosity and eagerness refreshing and delightful, and he's like to get along with adults who have the same characteristics. He doesn't care what people think of him, and has an odd sort of confidence around him.
Unlike some of the other hunters, Luchino doesn't have any sort of blood thirst or animosity toward survivors. He has chosen to hunt in the manor in the pursuit of knowledge: to Luchino, the ends justify the means. However, he doesn't disvalue life. Though his choices to test herptile venom on himself can seem reckless or even fatalistic, the truth is that Luchino is willing to take calculated risks, especially if he thinks it could further his goals.
He has a very analytical mind and is good at making connections between facts; though he can be a little awkward (he has never explicitly been the social type, despite liking people well enough) he does like to listen to people. He tends to not care about social norms. His ability to sense subtle changes in body temperature, pulse, and electrical impulses in others means that he's gotten a lot better at reading people, which he's actually a little grateful for.
Luchino has a difficult relationship with what he's become. He has accepted that it may be permanent, and while does not necessarily seek to turn back to his former self (preferring to move forward) Luchino wants to know what, exactly, happened to him. He doesn't dwell on a grudge against the researcher who gave him the strange snake that may have triggered his transformation, but it doesn't mean he forgives the man. At the beginning, while he was undergoing his transformation and after he'd transformed, Luchino turned to self-harm, trying to pry his scales free with his knife. He's stopped it since, but he still has the scars from those early days. Despite this rough relationship with what's happened to him, he still finds his own transformation fascinating. Analyzing it from the perspective of a researcher is a comfort to him.
He finds taking notes and writing things down comforting, since it helps him keep organized. He has a tendency to remember faces well, but not always names.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Reptilian constitution: Luchino has great size and strength because of his physical changes. These include a powerful tail, strong legs, as well as heightened senses. He can "taste" pheromones and body chemistry, as well as electrical impulses from people around him. This means he can sense emotions and physical reactions.
He also has a slow metabolism, meaning that he can go longer without eating than a human. He does not dehydrate easily. However, he is weak to the cold, growing sluggish when his body is too chilled. He's somewhere in between fully warm-blooded and fully cold-blooded.
His eyes are very sensitive to movement and add to his excellent reflexes and reaction time, but it also makes reading difficult for him. He can see colors very well.
Jumping: Using his powerful legs and tail, Luchino can leap into the air, traversing great distances. He's learned to quickly arrest his flight path and "crash land", into the ground; in the Manor, he used it to catch and damage survivors.
Intelligence: Luchino was a renowned scholar with a diploma and plenty of research behind him. His ability to analyze and make connections between points of information comes in use beyond simply extrapolating theories.
INVENTORY:
Khukri knife: Luchino's weapon of choice.
Notebooks: His research, consolidated into a weathered collection of notebooks.
Spectacles: For reading.
MOONBLESSING: Iris
